Smart solutions for increasing the quality of plant life

Keywords: IoT, irrigation, NodeMCU

Information

The target of this experiment is to create a system of automating the irrigation process, using IoT (Internet of Things) technology to irrigate a garden. The system consists of two parts: a hardware part and a software part. The objectives are to monitor in real time the life of the plants, thus various parameters will be obtained through the sensors and will control the irrigation process.
Through the web application it will be possible to follow the environmental data measured by the sensors, and from the "AccuWeather" website. Irrigation can be controlled both manually and automatically. Manually by activation the irrigation process from the application by user or automatically  when the system takes decisions following calculations based on environmental data received.
The experiment objectives are:
- Evaluating the necessary conditions to implement an appropriate irrigation method based on environmental data and plant needs.
- Collecting data generated by embedded devices from the environment of plants  .
-  Developing embedded devices to control the irrigation process.
- Implementation of communication between the hardware and software components through the MQTT (Message Queue Telemetry Transport) protocol.
- Creation of a web application to facilitate the interaction between human and system.
- Collecting data and storing it in a database.
